Questions you may ask

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy will include a personalised assessment of your current difficulties, which usually takes between 2-3 sessions, but may require more time than this.

The aim of the assessment is to give you the best opportunity to describe what you have been experiencing, and will help your therapist to understand both your current problems, in addition to your background and how your problems have developed over time.

You will agree on therapeutic and value-based goals with your therapist, and will be encouraged to attend regular (usually once weekly) sessions as you progress through treatment - the frequency of your sessions will be agreed together with your therapist.

You will be invited to discuss how you think your therapy is going at regular points throughout treatment, and your therapist will review your progress after each session, including through the use of clinical supervision.

Individual therapy sessions are 60 minutes as standard, and are charged at £90 per session.

90 minute sessions may sometimes be necessary, and are charged at £135 per session.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy will include an assessment of both partners in a relationship, which also includes an individual assessment of each of you as part of this.

The assessment usually takes between 3-4 sessions to complete, and is an important part of the therapeutic process, as you are both encouraged to describe what has brought you here, and the issues that you would like to explore together with your therapist.

Your couples therapy will be based on the principles and practices of cognitive behavioural couples therapy (CBCT), and can be used to treat difficulties in your relationship, such as problems with communication, or a lack of intimacy - or to treat emotional difficulties in one partner, using the relationship as a therapeutic agent of change.

You will agree on treatment goals with your therapist, and will be offered regular (usually once weekly) sessions as you complete this - your therapist will regularly review how you feel you are doing, and encourage feedback from both of you as you progress towards your goals.

Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes as standard, and are charged at £100 per session.

90 minute sessions may sometimes be necessary, and are charged at £150 per session.

Fees

Please note that cognitive behavioural couples therapy (CBCT) will not be available until 2025.
